Planning : Preliminary Task First ideas.

The task we were set was to write down our first ideas for our preliminary task. Our preliminary task was where a first student walks into the school, going to meet the second student. The second student would be waiting in a room upstairs. When the two students sit down, one will tell the other a 'knock knock joke'.

In our first notes we have chosen some good camera shots; establishing shot, a mid shot, a P.O.V shot, some match on action and shot/reverse shot.
We will be doing some camera movie such as; a panning shot, a zoom shot and a tracking shot.

These are only our first notes, we will probably add in some more shots as we progress throughout
the task.

Embedding a Powerpoint

For this task I had to talk about the different, more complex parts of our main task for Media. Firstly, the continuity task, the 180 degree rule, shot/reverse shot and match on action. I did this task using power point, which isn't great - but its simple and easy to use.

This power point is an example only.

Preliminary Task Introduction

Preliminary Task Introduction

Continuity task involving filming and editing a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom she/he then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue. This task should demonstrate match on action, shot/reverse shot and the 180-degree rule.

Media Specific Terminology

Filming - Filming is the use of a camera to capture a moving image.

Editing - Editing is the cutting and putting together of different clips that you have filmed.

Character - A character is an actor in a clip that has been filmed who is either a fictional or factual person.

Me As A Consumer Of The Media

The media is a huge part of everyone's life nowadays, with positive aspects and negative aspects. Recently there has been a huge trend on the scene to help out the ALS community, to raise awareness and raise money to help find a cure for this horrifying disease. Here is an example of "The ice bucket challenge" done by famous actor Will Smith. Things like these are what makes media so powerful and great. Without media spreading awareness for great causes like these would be next to impossible and would not have anywhere near as much impact as this campaign did.

However, there are some negatives. Such as hackers finding their way into celebrity's private pictures, text messages and recent phone calls. In my opinion, however, there are more positives to media than negatives.

Here are some of the headlines over some recent hacking scandal. And these reasons are why the media can be a bad thing as time goes on.

Personally, like almost every single person my age, cant live without the internet. If my internet was to go down for a whole weekend I wouldn't know what to do with myself! Then from the internet I can access anything I want from other areas of media such as films online, music, television and even the radio if I wanted.

If you found the ALS cause interesting and didn't hear about it before this post click here to donate today! Thank you.
